The 2025 Summer Circuit will begin at the Cooks Classic in Whanganui on Saturday, January 25, 2025!

Kicking off an exhilarating track and field season, the Pak’nSave Cooks Classic at the historic Cooks Gardens promises an unforgettable evening of athletics. The event will feature a packed schedule and showcase top-tier local and international talent in an action-filled night.

The 2025 Cooks Classic will feature the New Zealand Mile Championships and Masters Mile Championships, as well as the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Fans will also be treated to technical events such as the 400m hurdles, long jump, high jump, and men’s triple jump, alongside power-packed performances in the women’s shot put and women’s hammer throw.

Cooks Gardens holds a special place in New Zealand’s sporting history. It was here in 1962 that Sir Peter Snell set a world mile record, running 3:54.4 on 27 January, forever cementing the venue’s legacy. More recently, in 2006, Nick Willis delivered the fastest mile ever run on the track, clocking a flying 3:52.75.
